The Barbara's House Summer Program is one of the hallmarks of Barbara's House's network of services. Barbara's House's Summer Program is an eight-week long program held Monday through Friday from 9:45 am to 4:00pm. The program is free to all youth participants and Barbara's House provides transportation to and from three family housing complexes. Barbara's House also supplies a daily snack and provides lunch during special activities.
The goal of Barbara's House’s Summer Program is to provide a safe, fun-filled, and productive summer. This includes opportunities for recreation, new experiences in culture and the arts, and educational activities geared to lessen summer learning loss. Barbara's House is one of the only local agencies that offers education and recreation together during the summer.
Past Summer Programs highlights have included swimming at the YMCA, therapeutic drumming, and trips to Bronx Zoo, Sound Waters, Rye Playland, and other nearby exciting venues.
